The Omega Force book stores has quickly become one of my favorites, and this one is no exception. It's pretty much Guardians of the Galaxy meets the A-Team. In this entry things hit close to home, specifically Jason's and the story captures it's usual elements that made me fall in love with it in the first place. However this time around the series finally manages to approach one of its absent features; female characters.Omega Force is built around familiar but endearing characters. Crusher for example is your typical muscle, but has a nuance of self consciousness. Lucky basically a killer robot has to deal with being an outcast to society and becomes braver and more discerning as the story goes on. The two female characters introduced one a captain of a ship, the other Jason's long talked about but never fully explained girl on Earth, simply aren't as well utilized as the other characters. Now as much as I'm harping on this, I don't think it subtracts too much from the story and hope to see the author improve as time goes on.

This series just keeps getting better and better! The first two were very good, but this one takes the story and the characters to a whole new wonderful level. I don't remember the last sci-fi story I've read that made me feel so many real emotions. The humor in the dialog is masterful and well placed. The fight scenes are paced just right and don't get boring or repetitive. The romance isn't "in your face" but is poignant.I really love that there aren't three or four parallel plots, the story always remains focused on the main character with just a few very short diversions to a different point of view. This makes it much easier to get fully immersed in the story. Also, this is a very cleanly edited novel with very few typos. As a dyslexic reader, hitting a typo often feels like hitting a wall -- full stop. Many writers publish their books with horrific typos. This one is almost perfectly clean (just a few typos here and there). To me, this means a lot, as the story just flows and flows. Thanks, Joshua, for taking the time to focus on this.I really hope the series continues and I look forward to the next one.

Before you start this book, please realize it is the third title in the series: you will need to read the first two books in the series in order to understand the back story and the characters. The author picks up right where he left off with book two of the series. While this isn’t a hard science fiction tale or over complex from my usual science fiction reading stack it was enjoyable, has a lot of smart-alecky characters; without having a spoiler, there are a few scenes where you want to call “bull” on it, but it was a good story regardless. I picked this up for 99 cents during a Kindle promotion vs. the normal price of $2.99, and I believe I received more than $2.99 worth of entertainment value out of it: if you enjoyed the first book of this series I am confident you will like this one, also.

The third installment of Mr. Dalzelle's new space opera keeps delivering and showcasing why self-published books don't mean you have to give up on quality entertainment. I have been enjoying the series quite a bit and the only think keeping me from giving a 5-star rating is that much of the action is quite standard. I tend to give 5 stars to those books that have that "something extra" that sets them apart and we have glimpses that Mr. Dalzelle is capable of such it just hasn't quite appeared yet. This book has decided to wrap up and give us a clear break between Jason, the Phoenix, their crew and their past. Jason has successfully returned to earth and wrapped up all lingering ties. The successful conclusion between the Phoenix and Deetz means that the series is now looking ahead rather than worrying about items behind them. It seems that the Phoenix and Omega Force will successfully move into the galactic stage together with Cristoff's group.I will say that we have quite a bit of clues as to how important the Phoenix and Omega Force might start to become and I for one can't wait for the ride.I will say that in general I'm a little disappointed in the galactic community as a whole that in general we constantly seethe ConFed on the defensive. The initial story left me with the impression that the ConFed was quite a powerful entity but it seems more and more like a paper tiger. While that is quite good for generating possible story-lines and its understandable that multiple alien civilizations wouldn't merge and coordinate all that successfully I still would think that certain parts of it would be quite dedicated to "law and order" or "stability" and they would be the core faction that gives the ConFed their momentum. I think that we haven't quite seen everything that the ConFed might be or has in reserve because the Phoenix operates more on the fringes than anything and I for one want a glimpse of the juggernaut.I think we now have a glimpse of everyone's backstory except for Lucky but I expect that we will continue to learn that the crew might just be quite exceptional.Once again I can't wait for more and will be eagerly await book 4 and so on.gallandro

The stories improve with each new novel, and the characters become more fleshed-out. The reading is easy and not bogged down in techno-babble. Grammatical errors abound and can be annoying at times, but that's just me. (I realize that writing can frequently involve a lot of cutting and pasting as sentences or paragraphs get moved and moved again, that just goes with the territory.) Once you get past that, the adventures and characters are actually quite captivating and occasionally I find myself laughing out loud at the interplay between Jason and various crew members. Too many authors are too damn serious all the time (IMO) and a little levity ounce in awhile makes for a more enjoyable read.Bottom line, Josh Dalzelle is quickly becoming one of my favorite SciFi authors. I started with the first book in the Omega Force series and I'm looking forward to reading every single book and then any other series that he has written.
